About this2that

We're building migration tools for a modern web where your content doesn't have to live in one place forever.

Why we built this

The internet is full of subscription traps. You upload your work to a platform, you pay every month forever, and if you ever want to leave, the platform makes it painful. The videos, the newsletters, the files — they're technically yours, but moving them somewhere else is a weekend project at best, and hours of manual work at worst.

this2that started because one of us wanted to move a few hundred Vimeo videos into Google Drive and realized there was no good way to do it without either clicking 300 times or paying another subscription to a migration service. So we built a tool that did it right: pay once, run it, done.

What we believe

  • You shouldn't rent your own data. If something is yours, you should be able to move it freely. We help you do that.
  • Pay once, own forever. No subscriptions. The whole point of migrating away from a service is to stop paying recurring fees — it'd be absurd for us to make you start another one.
  • Your data stays yours. Our tools stream files directly between the source and the destination. Nothing is stored on our servers. In browser mode, nothing even leaves your machine.
  • Simple over clever. A good migration tool should feel like pressing a button. We work hard to keep the UX that way even when the underlying problem is complicated.

Where we're going

Today we ship Vimeo → Google Drive and Vimeo → Google Workspace. That's the first tool in what we want to be a platform of migrations. We're working on more routes — Vimeo to Dropbox, Vimeo to S3 — and on completely different tools like Substack to Ghost for people leaving newsletter platforms.

If there's a migration you wish existed, email us and tell us. We build the ones with real demand.

Who runs this

this2that is built by FUN MANAGEMENT SRL, a Romanian software company. The project is small, the team is small, and everything about the product reflects that: we'd rather build one thing that works than ten things that kind of work.
